Kindergartners at Burroughs Elementary, Minneapolis, worked all day to design their own community garden. First, students learned about green space and why it is important to their community. Then, students worked individually to draw a garden space from a bird’s eye view. Lastly, students worked in small groups to combine their individual ideas and create their garden using K’Nex. Once the gardens were constructed, the students took turns telling their peers about the garden they designed.
