07/14/17 – Saint Paul Summer Safety Camp

posted in: Uncategorized

Blue U volunteers participated in the Saint Paul Summer Safety Camp, where campers learn about safety in a fun and engaging way. Blue U volunteers talked to campers about how engineers incorporate safety into the projects they work on and how campers can be safe while projects are under construction. Students did an activity where they built bridges in small groups and then had a competition to see whose bridge could safely hold the most cars (1 lb. weights). The camp is sponsored by the Jimmy Lee Recreation Center, Regions Hospital, bikeMN, Kitty Anderson Youth Science Center, Minnesota Science Museum, Department of Public Safety, Saint Paul Police, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, Saint Paul Public Works, Northern Star Council, Blue U, Great River Waterpark, and the Saint Paul Fire Department.
